Gas tank removal indy 500

Hey guys, thinking of doing some pre season work in the comming weeks as i wont have time to do so this fall before we get snow. I have a 2002 indy 500 edge chassis I need to remove my gas tank to clean all the gunk built up from lousy gas and remove a lost gas can nozzle lol.. have never done it before nor know where to start on this machine, any help is appreciated!!

Pretty sure that once you get the seat off, there are just two nuts holding the tank. Remove the two nuts, lift and slide back enough to have room to disconnect the fuel and vent lines.


Seat is held on pretty much the same way, except the nuts/bolts are in the tunnel.

Look for two bolts at the rear, possibly in the "trunk" compartment

BcDan i can recall seeing two in the trunk now that you mention it! Would it be just those two or more up toward the front kf tunnell? Havent gotten a chance to check it out yet been busy

Even though this is for the RMK 500 the manual will still work for some of your 2002 Polaris Edge 500.
