87 exciter 570

I have a 87 yamaha exciter and it bogs real bad off the line. You have to feather the gas real light to get it going. Is this a carb problem? How do you adjust them? Please help.

I was having this problem, and don't know if I have fixed it completely yet, but you may want to replace your belt. Mine I think was dropping it into a higher gear and bogging because of it.

You can shim the belt to bring it up higher in the sec. You want it about 1/16-1/8 of an inch above the sheave

got an anwser

I have 2 phazers, an 86 and a 95. They both have the same number of miles on them so they both have roughly the same wear. The phazer was having that boging problem, so i compared the 2 machines and what not to see if there were any differnces. I couldnt find anythign that would relate to bogging so i just ripped apart the carbs, cleaned the jets, put them back together and walla, the 87 was breathing like it was new. Oh yeah and it didnt hurt to change the air filter either.
