Can I run a 89 inviter without a battery?

Will I hurt anything if I run a 89 Inviter for maybe 200 miles without a battery? Just purchased it today, there has not been a battery in it for a few years but I do not want to do any more damage if its going to hurt something. Runs great without.... thinking of taking it up north this weekend and would not be able to get the electric start hooked up and working until this summer.

It will be fine. I had a coupla of them! Kinda funny looking aren't they! My exwife said it looked like a grass hopper! I just use a lawn mower battery!

Thanks! It is a small funny looking sled... I actually really like the way it rides though! There is some suprising power for a 300cc single. I cant wait to tear it down this summer and go through everything on it for next winter.
