88 exciter belt/clutch? problems

i have an 88 exciter and its doing some weird things. i'm thinking maybe its the clutch? or the wrong size belt. sometimes when i stop it the belt doesn't disengage so it putts forward and dies if you get on the brake to stop it all the way. and also if you get on it real hard for a while the belt starts slipping. usually letting it drop back to an idle and feather the throttle it fixes it. Any advice would help. thanks

Pull your primary off and clean it make sure you separate it and clean everything #1. Pull your secondary off and clean it to and make sure you remember your settings and your spacers because this will affect how your sled runs. Hope this helps

rule out the possibility of the wrong belt first, but i am leaning towards mmsrx's advice, your clutches need attention.

you may want to inspect your motor mounts and confirm the center to center is correct on the clutches.
