1998 Yamaha SRX 700 Temp Light flashes 7 times

Hi there,
I am new to this site.. in fact I am new to forums in general. Just bought a Yamaha SRX 700 1998. Great machine, runs well. Yesterday I took it for a good ride although, towards the middle of the ride my temp light started to flash 7 times, then it stops for 3 seconds and then continues to flash 7 times again till I finally got home. I am not sure what it could be, and whatever it is what might be the best way to fix it. Any feedback would help
Thanks

Did you check the coolant level?

your flashing a code from the self diagnosis function pertaining to an issue with the powervalves. could be the servo motor isnt working, stuck valve, or broken cable. i have also seen wiring problems flash this code.

you can test the servo motor easily by removing the screws securing the cover and lower the idle to below 900 rpms. at that point the servo motor should activate and move to relax the cables.
