Look for an M10, there are plenty out there. The mounting kit for your sled should be: 129-8917-00

Personally the 97 & up ZR is about the best out there! The ZL might be a bit softer!

Thanks Guys, gives me a starting point.

Do I need a mounting kit, or could I use the exsisting mounting hardware, adjusting the holes/locations of brackets?

Would welcome any advice from those who have completed a suspension upgrade in an older sled. Thanks Dez

It will depend on the skid that you are going to be swapping with, on whether or not you need a mounting kit.

Advice Continued

Guys

The M-10 I thought I had lined up turned out to be a 136 not a 121, so back to my search. I have found the following, (S $ is the amount for it to be shipped to me):

Arctic Cat ZRT/Thundercat/EXT/Wildcat/Z440/ETC 121" Drop-In Rear Suspension Ryde FX Shock pulled from a 1998 Cougar with 2900 miles $140 OBO (S $130)

or

NICE 1997 Ski-Doo Formula/MXZ/Mach/Touring/ETC 121" Complete Rear Suspension $140 (S ??)

Appreciate your thoughts,
Dez

Nope! Keep lookin! I've picked up a nice ZR skid with fox shocks for $150 at swap meet!
All you will need to know is the mesurement from the drive axel back to each mount hole, and from the top of the tunnel down!

What do you mean by a mounting kit? You will have to do some fabricating if that's what you mean.

mounting kit means that it is a kit for you to mount said item on the sled.

Define "it".

Installation kit

Thanks Kemo.

@ RxSX in order to install the Fast M10 Fast tells me I need a specific mounting kit that has rails and front pivot brackets with a template to mark the specific holes for my tunnel (93 Exciter). Not sure if an install kit/rails would be required for a ZR/ZL but I am sure I would need the measurements/template for the hole location to get the geometry right?

This is on the money.

You will need drop brackets in the rear, and steel backing plates at mounting points where they aren't already present. You may also depending on tunnels have to machine down or shim the rear mount of the new skid.
