if your 97 is the trailing arm chassis, yes, assuming it was for that machine. 97-99 6 twins had a bit different exhaust setup, probably wouldnt take much to alter a later can to fit.

once the 600 went triple around 2000, the 600 and 700 shared the same exhaust.

What if I buy a silencer that is for a 600 triple and put it in my 600 twin as long as it has the trailing arm front end would that work? All I can find is snostuff silencers for the triples

The newer Yamis use a seperate can from the pipe. If you look the inlet has a perferated tube as well as the outlet. Simple drill a 1" hole threw connecting both! Then just weld a 1 1/2" square plate over it!

chances are that per tube is probably rattling around inside, seen several western sleds do this. cant imagine how much more quickly the eastern and midwest sleds based on the corrosion i have seen.

are you looking at a new silencer or used? i got a sale flyer from bender awhile back and they were closing out the 600 twin silencers. you might look that direction.

never did the mod on the 600 twin, done several on the triples. no power gains on the twins by drilling the silencer, actually not much to gain with an aftermarket other than a cool rumble. advantage to drilling the stock silencer is just that, stock appearance. no bs if your in a sound sensative area.

never had to do any welding on the ones i did, simply used a hole saw with an extension and drilled a 2" hole on the baffle plate inside.

i have a stock triple silencer here if you want to compare configurations with yours. if they are close, shouldnt take much to modify a fit. however, your dealing with two entirely different engines each having there own needs for back pressure.

if your not in a big hurry, i could actually compare silencer fitment next weekend. my 600 twin is at the cabin.

I was looking at getting a new silencer. I know there's not much power gain with them, I just want my sled to sound well bad ass lol. Most of my ridding is out in the middle of no where's so I really don't have to worry about disturbing people in their house or going through any towns. Most of the places around are hunting camp, and I don't ride untill after hunting season. I know about the different engines sizes and each producing their own back presure that's way I was woundering if by chance I could get away with using a silencer for a trible on my twin. I remember seeing a silencer from MRBP that was made for my sled but I really like the sound of the snostuff rumble packs, but if I can't find one to fit mine then I'll see if MRBP still carreys one for my sled.

If u drill out the perf tub, that might change the back presure? If you connect the tubes threw the side it wont.

i leave the perforated tube in place, reach through it with the hole saw and drill a hole in the baffle.
