1980 Enticer 340

Hello everyone I am new to the forum and new to snowmobiles. I recently picked up a 1980 Enticer Deluxe 340 at a garage sale for 40 bucks. The sled was parked 3 years ago and has been sitting ever since on a tarped trailer. I plan to drain the fuel and rebuild the carb..... I would like some advice on what else needs to be done to a sled thats been sitting for so long. Also should i trust the oil injection or should I pre-mix?

Welcome to the forum!

Check all the rubber hoses for cracks, it may be good maintenance to replace them. You may also want to rebuild the fuel pump. I would clean both clutches and possibly replace the springs as well. Check the rear suspension wheels for bearings that may be going, pulling the rear suspension can also let you look for other problems, such as binding cross shafts.

The rubber boots to the carbs from the airbox and from the carbs to the engine should be crack free as well. Finding those could be a bit of a search.

I had a 79 Enticer and an 80 Enticer, both 300's. The oil pump worked fine on both of those sleds. If you are concerned, premix that first tank of fuel and fill the oil reservoir to the rim. That way you can better judge if the amount of oil being used is the correct amount. I had issues with both oil reservoirs on my sleds, the plastic gets really brittle with age. I hope yours are better!

Check the wear bars on the skis, sometimes those get forgotten.

Welcome to the Snow Show. Great find! I've still got a few of those around here. The suspension will need to be gone threw.

One more thing- pull the gas tank, drain it, and flush it. Might take a while to get all that ethanol out but you'll be sorry if you don't!

ok guys... I drained and flushed the tank, rebuilt the carb and ran new fuel lines.

Do I need to do anything with the oil injection system before I start the sled? other than fill it. How do I know the oil injection works properly?

Anything else you guys can think of before I fire it?

To ensure lubrication, mix some oil in the first tank of gas. Fill the oil completely to the top so that you can measure the amount of oil you use during your first ride. Measure the amount of gas used, that will give you a ratio of gas to oil. It should be about 40:1 which is 10 gallons of gasoline to one quart of oil. Newer sleds meter about 50:1 and you could probably use that as a guide; oils these days protect better than oils in the past did.

By premixing that first tank, if the oil injection is not operating properly, you won't be left with no lubrication. Double oiling may foul the plugs, but it's better to be over-oiled than under!

Need some help......I just primed the fuel line from the tank and she fired up and ran good....I ran a clear fuel line and NO gas is coming from the tank.....It just runs on the fuel I put in the line prior to starting. Why is it not sucking from the tank??

fuel pump may be shot or your lines from the tank arent configured correctly. that tank has both supply and vent lines as well as the so called fuel gauge line. another possibility could be a plugged tank filter or bad line inside the tank.

dont forget the pulse line from the fuel pump to the crankcase. bad, cracked or missing and theres no vaccuum to draw fuel. you can test the pump with a mighty vac type device or if you have good lungs and tight lips you can do several quick sucks on the pulse line side and see if you can suck fuel. i prefer an unused clean hose if you go that route, unless your fond of the taste of gas.

Finally got it to prime.....seems to run pretty good.....It does make a rattle sound, is that the clutch? Is this normal?
