Venture Lite Will Not Charge

I have a 2010 Venture Lite that will not charge. THe battery is new and holds a bench charge just fine. But it will not charge in the sled. Can anyone point me to a resource to trouble shoot this.

Thanks!

are you flashing any codes on the display like a 46?

couple things to check, assuming there are no issues with the wiring or the battery:
voltage output to battery. you should be seeing at least 14v with the engine running at 5000 rpm. go ahead and remove the belt for this test.

check your fuse and its connections as well as the battery connections and the grounds.

check the stator resistance. seems like 20-26 ohms, dont have that info at hand tonight.

all else being good would lead you to the regulator or its ground. dont recall a simple regulator test without special equipment, seems like a go/no go item. from there, check for any bad or shorting wires.

there were some wiring updates to the phazer models, i would assume the venture may fall under these. check with your dealer, it wasnt really let out, but there is a tech bulletin for the main ground harness heating up and losing contact.

No codes flashing.

No voltage delta with engine at high RPM it sticks at 12.6V which tells me there is no charge.

I see from an wiring diagram on a 2009 (which is all I can get my hands on) that there is a fuse in the charging circuit. Problem is I have no idea where that is located.... can you help point me to it? Replacing a fuse to correct this would be too easy!

That diagram also has a schematic for a plug that shows pin-outs for testing the stator. Again I have no idea where to locate that plug in the harness - can you give me a clue where it might be? And if I do locate it I wonder if the pin-outs are the same on a 2010?

Thanks for the reply and any additional help you can give.

main fuse block should be just to the side of the battery. going solely from memory, there is an inline fuse and also a spare located just forward of the main fuse panel. the inline is encapsulated in rubber and held in place with by a rubber strap. the spare will be just to the right of it and again in a protective rubber housing.

find the fuse block, you will find the inline fuse. 09 and 10 should be the same.

dont have one in front of me, but i will have access to one tommorrow.

Thanks, will try to locate that fuse tomorrow AM. I know where the main fuse block is, but I do not recall an in-line fuse.

Just FYI here are the diagrams I was able to find.... not for my mode year but as you say they should be the same.

Thanks again,

HF
