Angry Dissappointed

Road Skidoo summits until I went yamaha 4Stroke. I cannot even play with my buds like I used to. Last trip to Valemont found my self playing with other Yamaha's on our "own" hill. I am a heavy guy so weight did not really concern me, but it is the death of these machines. Any one else switch and be dissapointed ?

are you saying the power of the Yamaha is not up to par with the 2-stroke summits? all the magazines I read, the rider reviews of the 4-strokes are great. the 4 strokes are not personally my preference either, but they seem to be getting better. tell us a little more about what you didn't like.

You need to be more specific about problems you are having. Number of miles, year, mods done, altitude, jetting, clutch setup and etc. Power should not be the issue of keeping up, only track size. The four stroke engine does not even begin to run until it has 2-3,000 miles on it. This engine will need a tune up at 25,000 miles and a rebuild at 50,000-100,000, not 5,000. Give yourself and it more time to get broken in. Also if you have a particular problem you can't find help with anywhere else, try totally Yamaha's web site for additional help.

NO mods to either worth mentioning. The Yamaha is just not up to the task...... I will be ordering a 06 doo 8 hun 151 ASAP.
I am tired of sub par performance and top drawer prices.
25000 miles in the alpine? I just want to ride it not marry it.
It feels like I have two sand bags under the hood. Switched off with some buds on doo's and ac's. They were not willing to ride longer than absolutly possible and offered there condolences.
I have had Summits since 94, sort of handles like the old 94 670
skud I started with.

For me... Yamaha's 4-Stokes have never made sense as mountain sleds. They are just too heavy to get around well in the powder.

I'm sure you'll love the 800 Summit though!

oh yeah, definetly. the summit 800 is wild. i thought that the yamaha's would make up in power for what they had in weight. then again, i never rode one.

i have had to lift a rev 600ho and a vecotr up 4 feet once, and while the vector was heavier i was surprised on how light it felt!

cobra--maybe you'll be the next on a doo?

I would totally consider a Summit. I was actually going to get a 600 Adrenaline 136" and upgrade the track to 2" lugs until I found my sled at a WAY lower price.

But yeah. If I was going to buy a new mountain sled... it would pretty much boil down to an M-class Cat or a Summit.

So why did you go 4 stroke when you loved your summits? You probably knew it was going to be less playful didn't you? Not trying to be smart, but I've ridden out west on summits and I wouldn't want more weight either. 2 stroke is the way to go in the powder, hands down no matter what you ride!

Had a deal come my way and had a buyer for the summitt.
Wont make that mistake again. Dont know what you got until you try something different. Yamaha is out of the mountian segment in my book, unless the trail up needs packing.
