carb issues?

I took off the carbs and gave them a good cleaning-carb cleaner and air compressor. Now idle is rough and it smokes like crazy. I checked the choke-working fine. I tried adjusting the pilots in and out-didn't help. I also have bog at first then it takes right off. Any ideas?

Overfueling at idle. Make sure the choke cables are adjusted correctly so the pins are fully seated in the carb holes when the choke is off.

No, you don't. There are adjustment nuts and the cable is threaded down on the carb end of the cable. Turn the cable down a couple turns and see if that changes it at all.

Opened the hood to find fuel all over everything. Forgot to put a clamp on the one side of the boost bottle. I'm guessing this let alot of air in and alot of fuel out. Put a clamp on and wiped everything off. Reset the pilot screws and checked the choke needles. A slight adjustment was necesary. All is good now. Thanks for the help.
