ski replacement on a 1990 phazer 2

I'm getting my sled ready for tip up town and I noticed it wasn't turning as well as it should so I bought some new carbides for it. I was taking the old ones off and the left ski has about a 6 inch crack about a 1\4 inch wide down the middle of it. I can order some replacement metal skis, but couldn't I put some plastic skis on it? I aplogize if its been covered a bunch.

I have an 89 phazer, and I just got plastic skis for it this year from Royal Distributing. They carry a lot of ski options for just about every make and model made. There is a set of kimpex plastic skis (not exactly top of the line, but they work) that you can get for just under $300 after you factor in the price of a set of carbides to go on the skis. Most plastic skis are pretty universal, it's just a matter of the brackets that go on the ski that changes it's application.
