I jus picked up a 1997 Yamaha XTC V Max 600. I have not driven any other snowmobiles so i dont know exactly how strong it is for a snowmobile, but it seems to pull almost as hard as my 2001 YZ250 with more mods than I could remember to list. I payed 2500. The sled has been kept like brand new cond., its bone stock, and it barely has a flaw in the paint. It was ridden from VT to Canada several times by the previous owner. It has racked up 7030 miles, or that is what my odometer says, the problem is while riding it yesterday, my odometer has stayed right there, and I have noticed that my speedo doesnt work, what is the problem? Please help this is my first snowmobile. I have followed the speedo cable but it didnt look damaged at all, what could be wrong, and my odometer and trip odo are not working either. Help is appreciated, Thanks.

take you're speedo cable off by the motor and put a drill on it and see if you're speedometer works if not then you're cable is bad

I don't understand your question..

You say it pulls like your 2001 YZ250 but the 1997 is your first?

If the cable is OK I would check to make sure it is connected correctly into both ends. Did you say the spedo is showing MPH when you ride or not???
