Air filter freezes up...

I have a problem with my Yamaha Viper 700. After several hours of riding in mixed elements (groomed trails / powder / etc), a lot of snow builds up on the engine, and often there's a lot of ice build up on the air filter. So the next morning when I go out to ride, nothing happens when I start it. So what I have to do is put a blanket over the engine with a blow dryer underneath to defrost everything (probably dangerous, I know).

Are there any snow kits or anything to prevent this from happening?

I'm new to this, but maybe you could clean off the snow before you put it away for the night. If it's not to hard, take off the airfilter and bring it in with your helmet and gloves??

Just a suggestion

I'll try that... But I forgot to mention that there's also ice build-up in the carburetor (sp?). =\

starting line products sells what is called a prefilter that wraps your air filter. snow and ice do not get in but air does. you can take the fabric and hold it under a stream of water and it wont go through but you put it to your mouth and you can blow through it. for $40 i am very sold on this for my mountian and powder riding.

SLP.com or just go to yahoo.
