'81 exciter 440

How hard is it to rebuild one of these bad boys i am only 17 so i want to do it under a budget and get it running decent

and has any one put a cat engine in one of these mainly the lynx engines ( check out my post on the Cat board )

did you already buy it or your thinking about buying it?

i'd say save a little more and try to find a newer exciter with the 580 motor.

its a way better sled.


2 stroke motors are generally not to hard to rebuild. how good are you with working on stuff.

i could try to walk you thru it all.... do you have a digi cam in case you get stuck during the rebuild.... it helps a ton this way i can actually see what your working with

allready got the sled , i have had it for 8 years , and the engine hasent ran in about 2 , but it still turns over

This sounds like the Kawasaki GPZ 550 motor I put in a Suzuki Quad 500.

The biggest thing is alighning the motor with driven clutch and getting the right belt size.

It's fairly hard to find parts for these old sleds, and it could get xpensive
