91 yamaha exciter 570

New to the forum long time reader. Heres my question i got a 91 exciter thats got a slight power loss but when you get into it, it takes off like a shot im thinking carbs but have heard that clutches will do this. i bought the thing in mn and brought to ia i also heard that elevation might be something to do with it. just woundering what your guys idea on it would be. and the last question is where would a guy buy a speedometer cable for this sled. thanks for looking.

I have a '93 so I would started with a good thorough cleaning of the carbs. Your pilot jets are probably clogged. If they are the Mikuni round slides check out the link if you need help with disassembly and cleaning, it is pretty simple.

What is the fuel to oil ratio for a 1979 yamaha srx 440. Iheard it was 40:1, is that correct?
