1979 Yamaha SRX Issues

It's a 1979 SRX 440 I'm pretty sure...all black with red stripes. I bought it a few years back from a old man and the engine was apparently just rebuilt and cleaned and such. A different clutch is on it than the original unfortunatly. I ran it for a couple years around the farm without it working well and I am sick of it lol. The sled is really boggy but it really moves at about half throttle otherwise it's garbage. I have tried adjusting the fuel mixture ratio a bit but to no success (leaner and richer). I have cleaned the carbs and have tried to mess with the tuning screws on the sides of the carbs but I havent found anything that helps. I can see small air bubbles in the fuel lines but it doesnt seem like too much air to be causeing it that much greif. I have replaced a few of the old and hard fuel lines but I am scared to break the nipples because they are so fragile. If there are any other tips or things I should be looking for I would appreciate it. I dont want to do a complete restoration on the sled I just want it to be able to drive around for some fun.

Thanks in advance

my first thing is to verify if the main jets and pilots are clean and and stock or whatever you need to run at your location airscrews are usually 1 1/2 turns out. then find out if that clutch is the right one for that sled. how about the belt is it correct. you can get alot of help with that sled over at totallyyamaha.com but u need to know what your jetting is at before someone can help you out .if u can get that sled dialed in you will look like this everytime you ride . good luck.
