Question 1998 Yamaha Vmax 600 Touring... PULL CORD??

My Pull Cord is hanging out a fair bit and makes it difficult to start.. it doesn't re-track in as tightly as before... How do I go about re-tracking it so its tightly fitted and rolls in properly again??

Do I have to remove the exhaust to get to the pull cord housing fixed?

Many thanks!

Don't know about this specific sled, but this happened to me once. I took out the pull cord and the thing it retracts into and out of (whatever that's called) and restrung it. It was the most annoying job in the world for such a small problem because I had to fool around with it for an hour.

You have to remove the recoil housing and clean the inside, do not use oil or wd40 to lube it, use a dry graphite lube.
