At least 2 sizes larger to start, then do chop runs and watch the plug color to determine best settings. Only then will you proceed to clutching setup.

one friend says i should rip across the field a few times and check before i even change the jets? and also I put a bender power shift secondary on it. I used the stock spring because the one the guy gave me with it was smaller and totally different. from what i read on the paper in the box with it i'm assuming it's similar to stock just billet. where's a good place to look for these jets at?

dam i thought i taught them better than that.
you need to go up 5 to 6 on your mains and jet down from there.a good choice is to jet rich and go lean. do a couple of plug chops. if your on the fat sied idle and midrange should be sluggish, but you'll get there.once you dial in the main midrange and idle are a snap

With twin pipes you definately need to re-jet.I think in '95 bender was the only ones making aftermarket pipes for the v-max. Check on their site for jetting,or yamaha forums.
