1988 Yamaha Phazer Carb Syncing

Hi i just got a yamaha phazer. It wasnt running very good, only on choke. So i thought to my self if it needed the chokes gas to run good has to be plugged jets. Cleaned the carb good and it runs and starts eisily without choke. only problem is it doesnt seem to have good power. sometimes when i start it up it has explosive power idle to 4 5 thousand rpms like a bullet where sometimes it struggles sort of to get there. I have been messing around trying to sync them. Can some one explain how to sync them.

Thanks Dylan

You basically have to put a finger into each carb and make sure the slides are opening at exactly the same time. You use the cable at the top of the carb to adjust the slide. There is a vacuum guage to do this also, but the finger trick works pretty well.

ok thanks small engine guy thanks for your response. I didnt really like the idea of taking the carbs off. I thought that i would check the plugs again and this time the one was really wet. So the one side was running rich and fouled up. Threw another plug in it and it ran good. 10 seconds later is poped and sputtered then went normal low power. i thought maby i had the far side running too high so i turned it down 5 6 turns and threw another plug in it. started right up and ran good. i set both carbs to 1.5 for the mixture screws and stared getting a good idle. gave it gas and vrummmm. took it around the yard once to see the power it had and it was the best i ever had it. ill go check it later to see if the plugs fouled.

Thanks again dylan
