I'm thinking of having a reverse kit installed on my new Yamaha SRX.

Does anyone have any experience doing this? Just wondering if it's even worth it, or do you need to change out too many other parts?

How much would this cost me roughly to get done at a dealer?

It would be pretty costly to do at a dealer I beleive all the parts off of a simular year vmax would work on the srx the most economical way to do it would be to search for the used chaincase (with reverse gear) and associated reverse componets and swap these parts onto your sled. the gearing is different on the vmax a little slower top end so if you wanted to keep your taller gearing you would need to use your gears and then order the proper length chain to accomidate the taller gearing and the reverse gear. Its not a terribly difficult task to undertake and can be done at a reasonable cost if you can locate the used parts.
