89' Phazer Tach

i just recently picked up a 1989 yamaha phazer in very good shape. only thing that's wrong with it is the rpm gauge doesn't work. does anybody know how i can fix this? thanks in advance for the help.

it is cable driven just like the speedo and works off the oil pump gear unscrew it from the tach start sled and rev it to see it it spins the cable.if not make sure its in the pump all the way if that dont help you may have to remove it from the pump to investigate a little further.

Mine had a broken key. The reason was a seized up line. I bought new key and kept spraying WD-40 down the line to free it up. Worked great.

well finally got some time to chack it out yesterday. turns out the end of the cable was broken off inside the oil pump. just need to get myself a new cable and im all set.
