08 Nytro Oil Change

Hey guys new to the forum. In fact new to yamaha. Was always a Ski-doo man until I rode a Apex last year. Did a little research and decided a new 2008 Yamaha FX Nytro was the sled for me. Don't let me down Yamaha.

Here is my question. I prefer to do my own maintence on the sled and it recommends the initial oil change at 500 miles. It also says to use 0w-40 oil. Would that be the same as using Straight 40 or does the 0w mean something?

I would prefer to use valvoine oil but I don't know if they make a 0w-40.

Any help or comments would be helpful. Thank you

0W40 is a WAY different oil than 40W! You can buy 0W40 at auto parts stores. The 0 means it'll flow much easier in cold weather.
