setting choke on Mikuni carb

I have restored an Excell340G (1983) Yamaha snowmobile and it has been a success except for one thing. It is hard to start due to my inability to set the "choke" correctly for the carb. First, I know this is not actually a choke but rather an enrichment device. The carb is a Mikuni B38-34 butterfly carb. I had to replace the choke cable and the manual says to set the cable by pulling the cable sheat from the metal adjustment screw 1mm. Unfortunately, the replacement cable is permanently attached to the adjustment screw so I can only guess at what the 1mm distance should be. So far I am not on track since I can not start the machine using the choke. I little quick start and everything runs fine. Can anyone give me an idea on how to adjust the cable so the enrichment "choke" will work?

You should be able to tell when the plunger bottoms out in the bore. It should bottom out just as the threads on the cable start to catch.

clarification

Smallengineguy

Does this mean that I should just engage the thread on the cable and lock it tight there? Also, do you know if once the plunger bottoms out, how far it is supposed to "rise" when one engages the enrichment (choke) cable? thanks
