Info on Yamaha Exciter 440

Hello Folks, I just got a 1980 Yamaha Exciter 440 sled. its has 6,000 miles on it and is in very good condition. The guy I got it from said all it needs is to have the gas swapped because it has been sitting in the garage a long time , Now Ive never owned a sled before and know nothing about them .. The engine is VERY clean and the only thing I see wrong is the windshield is cracked Now what I'm looking for is a repair manual or a book on this sled . As I said I know nothing about sleds but I do build cars , mini bike, and go karts, so I am mech inclined . I'd love to use this sled but it looks as though winter is close to over .. Any Infomation will be wonderful.. My e mail is korvette1977@hotmail.com My name is Dale Thanks

Lots of good info SEG has pinned in the tech sections.....carb cleaning/rebuilding is prolly one of the first ones you'll need to use. Check them out!!

It appears that everything is all there.
I would check and see if that 90degree elbow will turn over and point to the rear of the sled however. so that it can pull cold air in rather than the warm air from directly over the pipe, unless it lines up with a vent in the hood.

If you look at the 2nd
pic it does look like it grabs air from the vent .. there is a vent rt there on the hood

That duct should be at about a 458 to suck clean air from the small duct. And the seats are a little diff. Checkout a guy on E-Bay his store is Tskinz Kustom Srat Covers he makes one for your sled. I an looking to get one from him sometime for the same sled.
