i have a 1982 srv 540 with a single carb that is damaged, i have twin carbs from a exciter 570, can i make this work? and what steps do i have to take not to damage my engine.

You need special angled adapters to put twin carbs on an SRV, otherwise the steering column interferes. Very hard to find the adapters, they have been out of prodution for years. Avoid the headaches, just find another carb on eBay.

You can switch over to a Mikuni Carb. Go to Sacha Hindle's SRV540 Message Board - Login. They are 100% SRV sleds...
