'97 V-MAx 500 problems

Hello to all. I have a freshly rebuilt Vmax500 that is being difficult.Comp 138-142lbs.New crank and bearings, seals(that hurt the wallet).Carbs clean choke works like it should. It has a140 small round main and 35 pilot jet.Needle on middle.
The problem that i'm having is no low end pull.If you grab a handfull it will bog down and slowly pick up hit for a second and then begin to bog die down. Looking at the plugs it seemed to be running rich. The prior owner did a airbox mod and had covered it with duct tape so I removed the tape and it pulled better but still same basic performance.Plugs still seemed wet so I droped the main to a 132.5 and it got worse now it won't go hardly at all. The plugs still seem wet. the problem is I can't get to run in the upper end to see what the plugs would look like.So I drooped the clip 2 on the needle and still nothing. So I went back to the 140 main and rose the clip and it seemed to help but the plugs are still wet.I checked the choke several times and it is not sticking.Any thoughts.
