SRX Questions

Hello. Just wanted to post a thread and find a little more information about the SRX triple sleds. If anyone has an SRX please state in post. One main concern I have is he air box. I would like to put K&N's on the carbs and take the air box off. I think it is a good idea on this sled because the hood has vents that pull cold air right by the carbs. Also, do boyeseen reeds or vforce 3 reeds work better? Are they really worth the $275 or $300? I heard they increase a few horses and help a little with mileage. What is the stock HP on a SRX 700? Does the power to weight ratio make them a quick sled or is it perhaps something else? Putting a hauck silencer on it sounds like a good idea because it is reasonably priced and it gives it some and loses some weight. What ya think? Maybe a clutch kit next season. Also someone told me the 99 SRX is the faster year, but I have been reading the 2001 is the faster year. If not, what made it faster? They all look the same.

Srx

lots of stuff here, as far as i know the 'o1/o2 were the fastest. some would argue the fastest ever. i beleive they still hold records in some of the magazine test times? i own a '01 bone stock. its pretty darn fast, the number most put out is about 136 stock hp. as far as the other things, any time you can put more air in it will help of course, my thought has been so far that the factory did pretty good already! if i were to spend some money on improvements it would be in two areas, clutching and any weight savings. these things weigh a ton. you will get some additional hp by the mods you mention, but my feeling is you need to spend some good dollars to get ten to twenty hp out of an already potent machine! put youre money were it would make the most sense.

Start with the clutch kit.
You will be surprised at the difference and will cost you less than the other mods.
