sled lost sufficent speed

I went out yesterday on the lake, and normally i could get my sled up to 196 km/h no problem, last night it would get up to like 173km/h then start crawling up to 177
I drive a 06 apex gt, what could cause such a loss of speed? It also had troubles firing over this yr, think it could be as simple as spark plugs???

wow thanks for the reply lol finally someone. The belt is in excellent shape. The sled ran fine my last ride at the end of last yr, so I am hoping its the spark plugs. This would be there third year for the plugs. I would of hcanged them, but I couldn't get the cpas off teh plugs, I was reefing on thos puppies. I thought I was going to break something, and hard to get your hand in there, well I guess this time if they dont come off I will be breaking something.

Outside conditions will change how a sled performs sometimes (type and depth of snow, temperature, humidity, density altitude...)

The belt may look good but your clutches may need adjustment to compensate for belt wear. IIRC the thinner the belt the lower the gear = less top speed.

Just a thought.

Hi gus, thanks for the replies, tonight I finally got those plug caps off the spark plugs, wow, I am nto a small guy, and the room they give you to put your hands in there. I was reefing on them, they have liek three rubber rings on those caps that suction very well, then they even bolt them on to top it off. Almost overkill lol. Gut them out with a end of a hammer and a screw driver. So tommorow when the stores are open putting new spark plugs on, changed the belt, then going for a rip, will update you on how it went. Belt was wore very very little. But it will make for a good spare. According to the manual the belt is adjusted properly. Only thing I dont like about the yamaha, is working on them! need small hands
