Do I have a head gasket problem?

I have a "03" Venture 700 w/ 650 miles. It was running like crap, so I cleaned the carbs. While reinstalling the carbs, I noticed coolant in the clear compression hose that runs to the fuel pump. Coolant level was down. Now it idles high and floats. I can't get the idle down unless, I apply some choke.
What causes head gasket failure on a low milage machine? I did have a backfire last year that blew the expansion camber off the springs.

Could be head gasket, base gasket or crack in the wall. Only one way to find out.

Failure can be caused by a number of things. The backfire is a good way, it could have torn the O-ring on the top of the jug.

UPDATE;
Not a head gasket problem. The green coolant I saw in the fuel line was oil injection line to the fuel pump. The coolant level down was coolant lost carb cleaning.
I took the machine to a local shop and he will get the triple carbs running correctly.
