So I just purchased my first sled. Its a 1991 Yamaha Phazer II. Just a few questions for you guys that know this stuff off the top of your head. How much HP do these do from the factory? How much does the aftermarket exhausts really help? And finally, how much does it typically cost to replace the track?
I'd guess about 80 hp? Don't bother with after market, I can tell you how to get more out of what you got! And a good ripsaw will run about 400-450!
OH and welcome to the snow show!
Welcome to the forum. I used to run a 1995 Phazer and loved it. Actually it was the Wife's sled and she loved it. As Kccats mentioned I think 80 Hp sounds about right. Their definitely not lake racers but really easy to handle trail sled. Not bad in powder either because they're so light. Very reliable.
I don't know much about exhaust mods. I asked this question awhile ago and the general feedback from the Gear-Heads was no big gains...not worth screwing around with.
Yeah, my dad already had an '87 Phazer that I have ridden and was the reason I picked this one up. I guess I won't bother buying an exhaust for it then. Thanks for the insight! Only other thing I was thinking about was replacing the track this summer for next year...any good reccomendations?

If it's a 136" track I would personally not go any more than a 1.5" paddle on the track. Any more than that might be too much torque and be hard on the drive line.
I have a 93 Phazer II ST. I love it... I put a 136 1.75 paddle on it. (had to go to 6 tooth drivers IIRC) to make it fit. It also gears down the sled a little. I think you can go 1.25 before you have clearence issues. I have a buddy that piped his.. He said "it woke it up" but actual gains are probably not worth the money.
