Let me start by saying "Im not a speed freak" but in order to tell if my (new to me) 90 Exciter is running at it's full potential I would like some feedback on what to expect in terms of top speed and the top RPM for the sled.
The motor was rebuilt just last year and the machine is virtually in mint condition.

I used to have a 1989 Exciter a few years back. Great trail sled. Not what I would call a rocket but ample power. I topped it out once on a long logging road at 120Km/H that's about 70 mph. To be honest I can't remember what the rpm's were runnin at.
I really liked the sled, very reliable.

I had an 89 as well. The best thing to do with it is to regear it! Drop a tooth on the top, add one to the bottom and get a new chain too! With this mine would run with my Pantera at about 90! But it was squirellyat that speed!! Enjoy!

dont really have an answer but came here with the exact same question only diff i have a 92' i thought maybe it had a weak clutch spring or something but i had it for a little skutt last nite and seems better then i had remeberd it seems to rev high sound wise anyway i never thought to look at the tach to busy lookin at the speedo cuz i have never really wound it outi hit 120 maybe even a shade more but it didnt feel all that tight i also have a 98 GT700as a primary..i will look at the tach next ride ...so is this speed 120kmh normal?im startin to think so

75 h.p at 7250 rpm. top speed should be 100 on the speedo, but in reality about 95 mph
