Thoughts on the 4 banger Vmax

Hey guys, considering one of these machines, 94 750. never had a 4 cyl 2 stroker. crank has been dun, brand new track yada yada yada..just wondering if there are things on these machines to avoid or look out for.

Thanks in advance

LoL yeah that im planning on, but it will most likely be the wifes machine and she's uhmm.....lets say....the tree will have time to move. It's one hell of a good deal on it, everything checks out, im just very curious what it's weak points are for dependability.

I have always liked the Vmax line of sleds. From the Vmax 4's to the two cylinders they are all very reliable. The only drawback to the Vmax 4 is the cost of rebuild. You have four of everything to rebuild, and parts aren't cheap.
I hope your wife is an experienced rider before you put her on a rocket like the Vmax 4. A novice rider can get into serious trouble really quick on a powerfull sled like that. When that thing hits the powerband she better be holding of real tight.

It has "yank your arms off torque".
It's one of those "point and shoot" sleds.
Most definitely not a sled for a novice, or even most "experienced" riders.

They are very fast sleds. Even to this day, they are one of the fastest sleds ever made.

Totaly hear what yer all sayin bout the power, and trust me i wouldnt put her on something she couldnt handle. She enjoyed the Dragon Turbo's power and was very adept at controlling the hp. Im rather Excited about this, even tho it's an older sled it seems to have quite alot of prestige. Im sure it will be a sled that stays with us for many years in nice condition.

With the crank being replaced i am to understand that it can still happen or was it a factory crank not quite up to spec?

I hear ya. Id love to have a Vmax-4. They are a very unique sled and command great respect even to this day.
Another site for info on this sled would be Welcome To Totallyamaha.

I had the opportunity to do the same thing. I can still get the sled for $800, but I wanted to make sure my wife was going to ride something she can handle. She likes my Viper but she couldn't handle it for a full day of riding. Someone told me a great quote,"Happy Wife,Happy Life". I got her a 2-up Polaris. It's not a Yammie, but I got a good deal on it and I know she'll be comfy. On the other hand, is her life insurance policy up to date?.......HAha
Good Luck.
