2000 venture 9000 miles

Well here we go into another season. My backup sled a 2000 venture 2 up my buddies call the "mail truck" is still going strong with over 9000 miles on it. This sled was worth every penny !!!!

Sounds like a typical Yamaha to me.

I used to have an '83 Yammie Enticer 300. Put 10,000 miles on that machine and the engine was still going strong when I sold it. They make great products. Got an AC now and hope it lasts even half as long as that Yamaha.

My 02 Viper ER that I purchased in 03 has approx. 12k miles on it.It's motor has never had a wrench to it other than cleaning the valves and carbs. Not quite as fast as it used to be but it'll do until I can afford a 4-stroke.

Hi, I have a 2000 600 triple and was wondering if you ever experience slight bogging at low speeds? Is the nature of a triple? This sled is also going through about 1.5-2 quarts of oil per gas tank and also getting only about 100 miles per tank. Any suggestions? Thanks!

No bogging here. That could be any number of things, but that sounds like way too much oil.Just over a litre a tank if you ran it dry of fuel would be closer. Are your plugs wet and oily looking?Have you checked the oil pump cable adjustment?100 miles to a tank is way too low also.I get around 120 to 125 miles before my low fuel light comes on and there is still approx. 4 lires in the tank.My nephews Viper was better than mine on fuel and oil.The bogging could be dirty clutches. What kind of maintainance has been done to the sled?Personally I would start with a compression check and go from there.

Thanks for the response. The plugs are dark but not fouled but I have not checked anything else. I bought the sled used in January and have only put about 400 miles on it..it has about 3500 now The previous owner said it had been dealer maintained and never had issues. I am probably only using it once more then taking it to get checked out this summer.
