94 Vmax track extension

Hello

I am going to extend my 94 Vmax 600 from a 136 to a 159 track.
I was wondering if anyone has done an extension on this model sled.
I have a rear heat exchanger. Do you think I should move the exchanger back when I extend the tunnel, or leave the exchanger in the original location?
If I leave it, do you think I would get enough snow hitting it if it is in the stock location. The exchanger is about 12"x10" with a 45 degree bend on the back.

If anyone has any input would be great.

Yes will have to move the exch to about the exact same location in relation to the turn of the track. The turn throws snow on it. But going to 159 will be very hard on that motor! What upgrades are you going to do for that?
I can't remember anyone with a mountain max going bigger?

That might be too long for the 600 to turn well.

Hello

I got the new track on my Vmax 600. I went from the stock 136" x 2" to a 159" x 2.125" paddle. It sounds like a huge jump in track size, but really its only about 11.5" of ground contact area more than the 136".

I gave it a run and I was very impressed. We sled in the mountains with deep snow. It ran great with really no loss of power with the longer track. Climbed like a mountain goat and didn't get stuck in the deep snow.

The motor is a stock 600. It has a fairly fresh top end and is jetted for the altitude I ride at. It also has stock exhaust. I have a set of powder skis to help the front stay up on the deep snow.
If I spend a few more bucks on a performance exhaust I could pull another 10hp out of the motor.

Alot of people think you need huge power to turn a longtrack. My experiment shows it can be done.

If you want to scream across a lake at 100mph, you wouldn't need a longtrack. If you try riding in the mountains at 100mph, you would last about 5 seconds before you die.

What kind of rear suspension do you have in there?

The suspension is the stock Vmax 136" rails. Rail extensions are attached to extend it out.
The only mod is the upper boggie wheel and axle have been placed under the footwell with aluminum angle blocks to raise the suspension up.
