Question running in reverse

i posted a few other threads on here on a 340 enticer the engine i noticed is running in reverse so the sled goes backwards. i talked to a guy who does alot of yamaha work and he said that the engine has to be matched up with the cdi of the sled and the engine i have i dont know what it is out of. he said the way to correct it is switch the stator part under the flywheel and the flyweel itself to correct it is there anyway around doing all that work and if not how do you set your timing after that.? would switching the wires coming out of engine do the trick or unplugging the cdi and turing it to tdc and plugging it back in?

Pull it over slow to make sure someone didn't wind the recoil backwards first. If not then the answer is no,you need to get a stator matching the CDI. I just went through this with a Ski Doo and an aftermarket stator coil that was supposed to be "direct replacement".It ran backwards also.Try Ebay for a stator that is the same as your sled CDI. Good luck

Cheaper just to replace the CDI to the right one.

Go this route it is easier to just plug in a new CDI. If you do go with the stator, the plate should have marks to lign up and it would be timed correctly.

If you have the right CDI, it should already be timed, unless someone messed wit hthe stator.

Wait a minute! How can it run backwards if the recoil is turning it forwards??? If the recoil is messed up it WILL run backwards with the right CDI and stator? Try using the emergency pull start off of the clutch and see what happens!

There was another sled here that did that. As soon as it sparked, it started turning over the other way.
