95 v-max 600?
Alright guys, Had it in the shop and had a full tune up including rejetting re sync the carbs plugs. Took it out and ran it 50+ km and it ran flawlessly for 2 hrs. Threw it in the truck and 4 htrs later at a buddies went to start it and it wouldnt start. Got it going kinda but with back firing and only on 1 cylinder with no power. What ya think ?
20 bucks on SEG.
edit- ran compression test and getting 130 on each or so

Could the choke be stuck? How much gas? Did it foul a plug?
Do you have a bad plug boot or wire end?

My guess is moisture in the fuel froze either filter or in the line. I assume you have changed the plugs. Another assumption is that it came out of a warm shop straight in to rideing within a hour or two.

Little piece of ice in the fuel pump.
Or....defective spark plug if you're only running on one cylinder.
OR OR OR.... CDI is gone bad. I've seen alot of CDI's that won't work cold. To test this, remove your CDI, and heat it up good and hot with a hair dryer. Immediately install the hot CDI and try starting the machine right away.

hey i have a 97 vmax 600 and i had the same problem....so i did the pistons plugs fuel pump and CDI and none of these made any difference....what it turned out to be was a chunk baffled steal from the inside of my pipe that blocked the pipe opening opposite to the manifold...and this was restricting the snowmobile from getting the needed back-preusser in order for it to run at higher rpm's....so this is another thing for you to look at...
Good Luck so many options which will fix it

Solved But Not Solved?
Alright so went through it again and took a look at the wires and plugs and seen the plugs were really rich. So switch them for new and good to go but how do I prevent this, make it leaner to drive meaner, lol.
How do you like that one.
-edit- What are your thoughts about the iridium plugs?

Save your money on plugs! Put a set of BR9ES in and run it at 1/2 throtle for 1/2 mile or so check the plugs? Them go wide open for 1/2 mile then hit the kill and brakes check them again? 1/2 throtle is the center needle if too rich drop the needle (raise the E-clip) lean opp.
Full throtle is the main too rich drop 1 main jet size (350 goto340) too lean opp.
Were the plugs real oilly? Check your oil milage.top off the oil and fuel next fill up write down your miles, how much oil and fuel.Miles divided by gallons gives you MPG. ( I'd guess abot9-10) Then take the gallons and multiply by 4
(quarts) and divide by oil (should be 50-1?) You can adjust your oil pump cable acordanly, shorten to get less oil lengthen for more. Good luck.

When rejetting be sure to know the altitude you will be running the machine. If your jets are set up for sea level and you head to the mountains, you will be running rich. The opposite if you jet lean for the mountains and run it at sea level. You will sieze it up.
Under the hood of the Vmax is a jetting sticker with altitude and jet sizes that should be used.
If you check the plugs and they are a little wet, but not fowling its ok. If the plugs are brownish your ok. If they are starting to turn white, it's too lean and heading for a melt down.
Good luck

Your plugs shouldn't be wet at all. They should be a dry dark toasted marshmalow brown. I use NGK iridium plugs in all my sleds. I'm on the same set on my Mach 1 for the 4th year. It does sound like you're still jetted too rich.
