Smile nube question

Hello everyone. Just came accross this very interesting and popular forum. So I decided to join.
I used to own a 2002 Skidoo Scandic 600 liquid. But I found it very hard on gas, about 9 mpg.
Now I'm looking to buy a 2003 Yamaha VK540.It has about 4000km
or 2500 mi. on it. The asking price, in case you'r interested, is $5795.00 plus tax.The sled is in mint condition.
What I would like to know if this sled is a 2 or 3 piston?
Also is it a reliable sled and is it easier on gas than the Scandic was?
I would appreciate any input.
Thank You.

The yam vkpro is supposed to get around 21mpg but the price around here (northern ontario canada) is about $13500.00 +tax.
A little too rich for my blood. I guess I'll keep shopping around. I want a sled just to do a little ice fishing. Since I don't do much touring, maybe I'll look into a smaller machine.
Thanks for the info, Irondog.
Glad I joined this forum.

I think the vk540'II is a super workhorse but uses more gas than the skandic. I love the
Yamahas vkpro, which added low range this past season, but have heard it overheats on
occasion. I don't like that. Maybe for what I do it would be just find. (Icefishing)

I can't imagine that 540 getting 10mpg even! Esspecially in that big and heavy a machine! If you think that9 mpg is bad take a Tcat out for a spin, I get 5 out of my ZRT!
