freeplay on steering
i have a quick question. does anyone know how to get rid of freeplay on the steering of a '93 venture gt 480? i would take it apart and figure out but i don't have loads of time and it would be quicker and easier if someone told me. anyone know how to?

You need to check the steering system over to see where the free play actually is. We can't tell you to change part X.

I had a lot of play, and the rod ends were all tight. My Cats have composite bushings, on the steering shaft, top and bottom. I replaced the bushings, and it's all tightened up now. It's best to look at an exploded parts view if you can. Then identify the wear areas, and take a look at yours in those spots.

thanks ill find the problem. its such a pain doing anything on these sleds tho because they're so compacte, you have to take everything apart to get to some things. does mean a much smaller sled tho.

Just look at a NEW sled. Everything is so crowded up front that you can forget about working on them! It's crazy!!! I'll take an older one, any day.

I was thinking Sno Pro and Rev. Both of them have NO spare room under the hoods. I had a number of choices of where I wanted to put my extra oil holder in my ZL. Could have put a couple of them in there easily. With the new designs, you'd barely be able to fit an oil CAP in there, forget about a quart bottle holder.
And speaking of oil caps... oh, I better not go there!

The ZR and ZL chassis has enough room to stuff a few cats in there...
Hmmmm... not a bad idea! I could get a hot-dogger, and have Chinese on my long rides. Now where'd my neighbor's two cats go??? Here kitty kitty...
