so last year i purchased a 1987 yamaha exciter 570. the engine was rebuilt 200miles prior and it ran great. i did some basic repairs and bled the cooling system. a little while later it blew the base gasket and leaked coolant everywhere so i took it apart replaced all the gaskets and put it back together it ran great but now it has blown the base gasket again any ideas?
Improper torque, cheap or wrong base gasket, or some weird over pressuring of the coolant system from a bad thermostat.
Do your cylinders have an oblong shaped rubber plug on the bottom blocking one of the coolant chambers? Now I am going to have to look at one of mine and see.
There could also maybe be a chunk taken out on the surface of one on the mating surfaces where someone used a little bit too much pressure with a gasket scraper.
