top speed?

What would be a normal top speed on my 99 sxr 700? Right now it can just touch 100mph(speedometer) on a smooth trail.

top speed

I am not sure about that. I almost peged my speedo on a snow covered road. I had it at least 115 from what I could see. I think I could have pinned it too..

I have a 2000 700 (600 actual miles on it!) Bought it used with around 200 miles...

Could my speedo be THAT far off??

Why?? Are you gonna be big-time lake racing or do you just have a small ding-a-ling??

The snow covered roads are better for faster speeds. lakes tend to have wet deeper snow causing more drag. I can def see 100 on a lake and 115 on a road/trail.

i would think you should have no problem getting over 100mph on the speedo. My buddies 2000 SX-R can run close to 100mph in a field with a few inches of snow to drag him down.
