This is NOT a strange sled. Why would you say that?

Yamaha made the V MAX 4 in 92-97. Wicked fast sled. Still, I think they alway's needed a suspension upgrade. This is the big reason I decided against getting one. Also not the greatest on gas.

Here's the one I was going to get. Had to go to Canada to get it. Another reason I decided to not get it after finding out the hassle with tax and all. This is a 97, the last year Yamaha made them. Notice not much suspension. Nice sled though!

a firend of mine had one..
it's a 4 cylinder made by the motorcycle division of yamaha, it turns revs opposite side from nomal seld coze there a small transmission with gears and oil where the crank sticks out..the reason was to put an auxiliary shaft to put the clutch on it.. imagine having to balance a 4cylinder crank.. or buying on for that matter... eww... pricy...oh and the pistons were NOT in pairs of 2 going up/down, they were stroked at 90 degree each.. so you had 4 explosions every crank turn.. it was nasty.it's a trail machine and i must say that, even with stock pipes on it, the sound it made was very distinctive, reminded me of the sound pf tissue ripping at WOT... very strange.
it has 4 carbs, suck ALOT of gas coze of the weight... many compared it a a small block chevy V8 as it had ALOt of torque, and was a very fast machine when it came out.. revved till 8250 rpm as i remember.. and was very costly when the engine blew.
but you see, the idea was not very far off from where we are now.. 4 cylinder sleds are now very present.. okay there 4 strokes but still..

V-Max 4's ROCK . Started out 750 cc ended @ 800cc .
SnowRida , what was the Tax hassle about. My ZRT was a Canada purchase and it went down like any other one I have done here . I gave him cash and he gave me a signed over title. Then I dealt with the paper work @ the Secratary of State like any other unit.

I've seen that sled on ebay before. He's been trying to sell that for some time now. Wouldn't mind having the M-10!

Vmax 4s have been around for a while. But to correct you on one account. They are not wicked fast by any standard. The original 750 was slower than the same year wildcat and the rest were nothing to be worried about. As a performance sled its just way too heavy and the suspension is very inifitent. Only when you modify the engine, switch out the suspension and put clear into the tunnel for the track does it turn on.
