I bought a 2002 sx viper from richs yamaha in lockport IL about 2 and a half weeks ago I paid 3700 for it. The sled has 2700 miles on it, ok that being said here is my problem. I just got a chance to ride the sled for the fist time this last week and noticed the owner before me had the helmat heater hooked up through the electronic speedo. So everytime the helmat heater is pluged in the speedo does not work, causing the odometer not to build up miles. I drove 450 miles in the UP over the last 4 days and had no miles to show for it on my odometer. I am freaked out about my purchase and feel that I could have bought a sled with a lot more miles on it then it is showing on the odometer.
I am going to call richs yamaha tomm, can anyone give me some advise on what to do or have you experenced something like this.

just explain your issue like you did here and have a couple resolutions in mind before you call. Most probably they will tell you its no big deal or you should have known. You've put nearly 500 miles on it, kinda your baby now.

Well dan i hate to tell ya this but im originaly from Lemont and i think Rich is a crook he doesnt even check those sleds he gets in trade. If its the sled im thinking of its been there qite a while. Was it sittin there with a srx on a trailer? Friend of mine bought a used r1 from him the bikes block had a hairline crack Rich wouldnt do a thing. My friend reported him to the BBB He responded to the BBB saying it must have happened after he sold the unit.

THE SLED WAS ON A TRAILER WITH A SXVIPER ER. BUT THERE IS A SRX THERE STILL.
