my jag did pretty much the same thing...turned out it was a crack fuel line going to the carb. looked pretty cool at night seeing a fireball come out of the exhaust under the sled lol..

i was told backfiring was because it was too much gas... when we poured gas into the cylinder of some kids really old motoski we poured too much in wich caused it to backfire...

Not a good thing! Inspect the check valve/filter inside the tank as well as the hose. Make sure all your fuel lines are in good shape (no cracks/splits) and also ensure that all connections are tight. When you see air bubbles moving in your fuel lines, there is something amiss!

CHECK THE T.O.R.S. SWITCH-UNPLUG THE 2 WIRES GOING TO THE CARB FROM THE HARNESS THEN PLUG THE HARNESS ENDS BACK TOGETHER-THIS BYPASSES THE SAFETY SWITCH. HOPE THIS HELPS.

I would try disabling the TORS for sure first since it is so easy to do. After reading your post again probably not reeds since it will idle fine all day but if TORS doesn't fix it worth taking a look at the reeds, should be able to spy on them without diassembly with a mirror and lite.

I had to diable the TORS on my Venture first when I bought it. Got it from an older gentleman here who said that machine backfired like that for years. One day after getting it, did some research in the forums and Voila, fixed.

My father is from FOGO!
