Trouble with 1997 V-max 700 Triple Idles then Bogs - Snowmobile Forum: Your #1 Snowmobile Forum

I need help. I have a 1998 700 V-Max XT and my boss has a 1997 700 V-Max SX.

By boss was running his machine across a field at around 80mph. he shut the machine off, and tried to resart it. Machine idles fine, but as soon as you give it throttle the machine bogs and has no power.

120 psi's at least in each cylinder. Swapped out coils, installed new V-Force power reeds, cleaned carbs, then even swapped out another set of known good carbs, swapped out fuel pump, checked the throttelswitch, swaped out CDI box, and changed the plugs.

What the hell is the problem with this machine. The only thing I can think of is timing or a bad seal within the crankcase.

This could acount for the machine idling, but under pressure the seals are leaking and no pressure or vacuum is built up in the engine.

Put an inline spark tester on it and run it that way. I'll bet it's the stator going out?

Thanks smallengineguy!!!! You were right. The stator was the problem. We swapped stators from one machine to the other, and that was the problem!!!!
