Thanks kccats. When I put a newer cable in that's way I will go. I went into it blind and what a project I cause for myself. I couldn't get the two screws out going sideways into pump so I pulled the clutch off grinded the welds on the motor mounts. Pulled the motor out a bit and landed up useing vise grips to get the three Philips out.
You will want to be very carefull putting the new one in. I have had to remove my engine 7 times now!
I caught the cable with the cover, had it all together and was trying to hook up the throttle cable when I found out!
Also I have an oil leak that has been kicking my butt!
I have been checking that. My problem now is I am trying to bleed the pump. Screws is loose all the way( won't come out) cable is pulled and I got vice grips on it but nothin is coming out?
Hi, I am about to put the 40mm Mikuni in. Do you think I should put anthor hole in the air box for more fresh air since the carb is bigger and might need more air?
Ok I will just leave as is. Got the oil injection set up. Stuck the old carb on just to test every thing. No leaks. Sprayed starting fulied around the intake and the pto seal. Waiting to get a needle and throttle cable then I can dail in the new carb. It should be here soon. Thanks for all your help.
Ok. This is what I was told to start out with 2.5 slide 7dh3 needle #3 slot. (410)to 450 main(40)to 45 pilot. AA-5 tube. I think the main and the needle are going to be to big but we will see. Just waiting on the throttle cable to come in from wahl brothers racing.
Had problems getting the right throttle cable end that goes to the thumb lever . My 40mm has that tall dome cap on it. I was told arctic cat used it for some safety switch that went some where so I am put a flat top cap on it.
I am going do a test run tomorrow with what I have intill my parts come in. I am going to do a test with a 360 main 40 pilot. Where did you get your throttle cable from? The one I am getting I have to dremel the ends smaller to fit the the lever. It's not a cylinder type it's like a cat ( like a tee)
That's what I am going to have to do. I just went to start it and the cable end came off . I had a fishing weight on the end on the slide part. What year and sled did your carb come off of? Mine was a 95 700 I was told arctic cat.
Finally got the thing running with the new set up. 40mm Mikuni . Had a lot of problems with new cable. It's for a 40 to44 carb from wahl brothers racing. Adjusted it to where slide sat down and started to come up. Squeezed throttle open and was a half inch from being totally open. Started to unscrew carb cable to raise sled. No go. Adjusted cable intill it came out of top. $ 75 cable what a waste. Now plan two?
