2002 Yamaha Venture TOS problem

2002 Yamaha Venture TOS
I just got the sled out for the season but I have a problem (I think) with the throttle override system. Maybe someone can confirm this.

From a stand still I give it gas and once it reaches 3000 RPM the cylinders cut out. The engine will stay at 3000 regardless of throttle position. The symptoms are the same if I hold in the TOS and give it gas. It's a intermittant problem but a pain none the less.

Is this a glitch with this type of system on the Yamaha's? Could it be a bad contact somewhere?

Check that your throttle lever doesn't have the throttle override system engaged. Where the lever pivots on the handlebar make sure it is pushed toward the kill switch and not pulled away(that is wehn it is engaged). It is hard to explain. Before you start tearing stuff apart make sure that your lever is on the correct pivot point.
