How quick are the new Yamies

Does anyone know how they match up with other sleds out there in the same HP class? What about against the 01/02 SRX?

I think my Apex is faster than my 99 SRX. I will find out soon and let you know. The Apex has got some balls. It has about 8 more ponies than a 01/02 SRX and weighs about 8lbs more. Should be close. My SRX has some goodies on it like a Bender can/clutch kit/cold air intake, so it wouldn't actually be a stock comparison.

The black and chrome ones are the GT's. You are right, they do sound smooth. They look great too!

I've hit 105 on my 05 vector. I'm sure I could get it to 110 if I had a longer lake.

Raced my neighbors AC 660 turbo and beat him w/out a problem.

My Apex does 120mph so far I know on a hardpacked road though. How accurate the gauge is don't know, would like to think it's accurate.

120 on a hardpacked road? the only thing you can do 120 on is a lake; common.

Why is just the lake the only place, the road was ice/snow covered. Perfect place for a carbon run, probably better than the lake! The speedo didn't lie!

I bet you can get it over 120 Apex Man.

Oh, and an icy road is just like a lake! Our road in front of my house is one long drag strip now that the ice storm froze it solid and it has snowed a few times over that.

Can't answer you for a another few hundred kilometers.
Just took my new RS Vector out for the first time yesterday.
Had a real hard time not pushing the lever to the bar, but I gotta wait and break it in properly.
Was real happy with the ride and accelaration from a stand still.

I know that feeling well. You'll probably top out at 110 or 115 give or take. At 105, you could feel the acceleration slowing down. Going from 105 to 110+ is going to take a lot of space. From 0-105 took ~1/2 mile or so.

You need GPS or Radar

In all the top speed runs I have done, the Sled speedo ALWAYS reads 10-15% too high. I use the GPS cuz it has a max speed reading when you reset the trip computer. For example, when I first got it, I had my new 2001 Venture 700 triple 2-up to 110+mph on the speedo -- only 98 on the GPS (Hardpack ice logging road in the UP, 8 degrees F). I check the GPS with a Stalker Radar gun too, and they are both within a 1/2 mph or so. Speedo readings make for better stories, though, and temp & surface conditions are a big factor. Nothing like a side-by-side drag to the top end though. Toss the electronics...
