Anyone own a Jetboat?

My wife and I are thinking about getting a little jetboat to get out on our lake. I've been out on a friends Seadoo and it was a riot...he could drive it well. It handled like a jetski and pulled me on a wakeboard pretty well...except for the "no wake" part. He loves his and would talk all day about how awesome they are. His is brand new and cost him about 20K...I can't drop that kind of loot, so I'm looking at used boats.

I'm going to look at one today, probably won't buy it, but it would be nice to hear some good and bad things about them from some owners who aren't trying to sell one.

I'm just trying to find something to keep me occupied until the snow flies....

Let us know what you find out! A friend had the Yamaha version, loved it.

The one I went to look at today was a total POS. It wouldn't plane out with 3 people in it and two of us were in the bow. I asked the guy last night if he had pulled any skiers and he said "yep with no problem". Lyin' bastard. Oh well, I'll keep looking. I'm not hard pressed for a boat this summer, but if I don't get one that pretty much ensures that I'll get a nice Rev!!! I'm choosing my battles.

You can control the plane in them with a trim control. Are you sure it was working?

even with it trimmed all the way down, it still should have gotten on plane with three people in it. maybe there was milfoil/seaweed in the impeller

This thing was beat up pretty bad. The motor was working overtime just to move us around...plowing the whole time. I wouldn't have given $500 for it.

that probably explains it...

personally, im not a big fan of the jet boats. ive ridden in both (jet and "reguar"), and my dad has a four winns. i think you get more out of a regular I/O boat then a jet boat. the only advantage to a jet boat is turning and "some" speed. just my .02 though
