We just bought an 06 Crownline LPX 225 w/ captians call and we got a $75 fine on the mississippi for excessive noise, it wansnt late, like 2:30. also we drive carefully and werent drinking. got the ticket for the captians call, is anyone else having problems with the DNR and their thru hull exhaust boats(if they have)???

There banned up here. Doesn't matter if your boat came with em, your not supposed to use em. You can blame the manufacturers for that one imho, puttign them in EVERY boat they make. It gets quite annoying on a busy day to hear them non stop. They ticketed like mad at first, and have now slowed up and will really only ticket you if when performing their safety checks they come across something else.

I've seen bolt on mufflers for the thru transom exhausts. I agree with canuck, they do get annoying...........just imagine riding on it all day!!

Not very conducive to conversation!

yea i agree it does get annoying. we actually have ours off most of the time,(beleive me im young, but there is such thing as too much noise). but it used to not be a problem up here, cause not too many people had em, and NO ONE had them on late(i guess as common courtesy) but in the past few weeks theyve just been really ticketing like crazy. maybe just some bad luck for us. o well. lol we call ours a testosterone switch. but we'll keep it off for now.

Here is the trick to get around captaisn call...they aren't "banned" up here in Canada...you just need to have a muffling device in them, so the "Corsa Quick & Quiet II" system counts as a muffling device. (basically traps water in the baffle to help reduce noise, but the baffles can also be pulled out to run straight through!). They don't really do much muffling, but do they do work a bit. I've been stopped a few times, and pointed that out, and they were fine with it and said have a nice day! Sometimes I think they just want to check out my boat! LOL!!!

i'm suprised people get stopped on their boats... I think i've seen a DNR enforcer once or twice, but thats only on a trailer!
